The new version of handPoint meter reading system, handPoint Meter, is now completed and has been installed at all the major power plants in Iceland. The system is designed to support various types of meter and is used by the energy sector to water, heat and electricity meters. This morning a handPoint conference on field sales solutions was held at hotel Nordica in Reykjavik, Iceland. Attendance was good and attendees could test the system as well as listen to product presentations from handPoint's experts. Three customer presentations focused on experience and usability of the handPoint Retail field sales solution. Egils brewery, Danol and SS all gave glowing reports on how handPoint Retail was saving them time and money as well as making everyday routines easier. handPoint's staff received a praise for good service and solution oriented mind. Retailers in the United States and Canada face a deadline on january 1, 2005 when 12 digit UPC barcodes will go up to 13 digits. This change is being made because there is a shortage of UPC barcodes and barcodes with 13 digits are also used almost everywhere else in the world. handPoint Retail users will not be facing any problems due to these changes, handPoint Retail supports UPC barcodes and EAN barcodes, which are the standard 13 digit European barcodes, as well as many more types of barcodes.
