Finnair Catering, a 100% owned subsidiary of the airline company Finnair has selected the handPoint mobile POS (point-of-sale) solution for all on-board sales. The solution will be deployed on approximately 500 handheld devices and will be used for all sales activities during flight as well as for other logistic processes and product handling. |

Ermes Selects handPoint Retail |

The Cypruss retailer Ermes group, or Ermes department stores has chosen handPoint Retail for its in-store retail tasks. Ermes is using the software in 27 stores for e.g. stock counting, return orders to suppliers, incoming delivery, transfers in and out and X-Van receipts. Ermes runs handPoint Retail on Symbol PDT8100 devices, with the Microsoft Windows PocketPC 2002 operating system, and integrates it with the Landssteinar Strengur back– office suite.

handPoint is extending the handPoint Retail suite to include a mobile POS application. The handPoint POS solution will allow customers to handle actual sales transactions on a handheld device along with all the other handPoint processes (counting, ordering, labelling, etc.). The handPoint POS solution is designed to increase the opportunities of retailers to serve their customers better, for example in peak buying periods where handPoint POS can serve as a queue buster. The solution is also ideal for airlines and train companies where space constrainsts are a key consideration.

handPoint has released a version of handPoint Retail for Windows CE.NET. The CE.NET version works exactly like the PocketPC version and has all the same advanced features. The benefit of the CE.NET version is that handheld devices are generally less expensive than PocketPC devices. Customers can therefore in many cases decrease the cost of hardware by buying CE.NET devices instead of PocketPC devices. |
